The outer world is what we wake up to every morning
of our lives, is the place where… we must try to make our living.
In the inner world there is neither work nor monotony.
We visit it only in dreams
and musings, and its strangeness
is such that we never find the same world on two successive occasions.
What wonder, then, if human beings in their search for the divine have generally preferred to look within!
Aldous Huxley, The Doors of Perception

OK this isn’t about design or photography or art.
But this book is excellent, and I just started it this morning.

If you’re like me, you know that our society is messed up; the way we run things, the way we treat each other, our selfishness and greed and destructive nature.
If you ever wondered if things could be different, but you weren’t sure how, you should read this. It’s quick. I’ve also heard from Brian that Daniel Quinn’s Ishmael is also excellent, and Beyond Civilization is more of an overview to get you thinking.
Enjoy!
